Lithuania is purchasing omnidirectional C-UASs and individual suppressors from NT Service. The company developed a handheld jammer, displayed at DSEI 2023, called Skywiper Electronic Drone Mitigation 4 – System (EDM4S) that could be offered as part of the procurement and which is already in service with the Lithuanian military. Lithuania-based NT Service has been contracted to deliver counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UASs) to the Lithuanian military to meet an urgent requirement to combat ‘drones'.
The contract, valued at EUR8.03 million (USD8.72 million) and spanning 36 months, involves the provision of anti-drone dome systems and individual suppressors, according to a contract notice on 18 March on the European Union tendering website.
In total, 351 anti-drone dome systems – more widely referred to as omnidirectional C-UASs – and 130 individual suppressors are being acquired from NT Service. The purchase has been deemed a “matter of urgency”, the contract notice detailed.
The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence (MND) previously informed Janes in January that it was planning to procure a range of C-UASs in 2024, comprising transportable and portable C-UAS detectors as well as omnidirectional and portable jammers. The MND had not responded to Janes at the time of publication as to whether this was related to the contract award with NT Service and what specific systems had been procured from the company.
