Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) presented a tracked version of the Boxer armoured vehicle at the Eurosatory defence exhibition being held in Paris from 13 to 17 June. The vehicle on display has steel tracks, but it can also be equipped with rubber tracks, reducing its weight.
The tracked Boxer has mobility features similar to infantry fighting vehicles, according to KMW. Like the Boxer 8×8 wheeled vehicle, the tracked variant can be integrated with more than 20 different Boxer modules, but is wider, so stowage room or additional armour can be added to the sides, with growth potential for active/reactive protection on mission modules and on the platform itself.
The version on display at Eurosatory was armed with a KMW RCH120 remote-controlled turret armed with a 120 mm smoothbore gun with an automatic loader, with 15 rounds in the turret and the option for automatic loading from the chassis. The unmanned turret is also equipped with a 12.7 mm machine gun, Spike LR2 missile system, Trophy active protection system, and smoke grenade launcher, with the option of a 30 mm co-axial machine gun. A multispectral sensor suite with an independent gunner and commander sight provides a hunter-killer and killer-killer capability.
