The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) has released further details of its request for information (RFI) to procure at least two remotely operated vehicle (ROV) systems for harbour quay inspection.
According to the RFI document, the requirement is for an ROV weighing less than 25 kg that is able to operate up to a depth of 30 m. The ROV will be operated by a tender, a pilot, and an image analyst.
The ROV's winch or cable-handling system is required to be portable and fitted with a slip-ring for power and signals and can be manually or electrically operated. The umbilical cable should be at least 200 m long with a pulling tension of at least 100 kg.
The ROV will be required to operate in 2 kt currents and feature a scan capacity of at least 800 m2 per hour. It should be equipped with sensors to measure water depth, roll and pitch, and heading and with high-definition cameras and lights.
The pilot will control the ROV from a surface control unit (SCU) based on a laptop or desktop PC featuring a non-touch human-machine interface. The SCU should be capable of operating on a 230 VAC ± 10%, 50/60Hz power source and display data such as the ROV's depth, orientation (pitch, roll, and heading), and status. The main monitor of the SCU should be at least 533 mm and it should be possible to connect an extra monitor.
The operator will be able to navigate the ROV with the help of a remote-control unit within a range of at least 100 m from the SCU. DALO requires the remote control to be designed to operate in all weather conditions such as air temperature between -20o C to 30o
