Janes announces new National Security Advisory Board

Underpinning their commitment to supplying the government and national security communities with assured open-source intelligence solutions, Janes announced today the formation of its National Security Advisory Board.

Washington DC (20 May 2021) ā€“ Janes ā€“ the trusted global agency for open-source defense intelligence ā€“announced today the formation of a new National Security Advisory Board to support the development of interconnected open-source intelligence solutions for the global defense community.

The Advisory Board, chaired by Sean Corbett CB MBE, serves to drive relevance and growth for Janes solutions among defense communities worldwide.

ā€œIā€™m delighted that weā€™ve formed this board to help guide our future strategy,ā€ said Blake Bartlett, CEO of Janes. ā€œAs we focus on aligning our trusted, assured and contextualized interconnected intelligence with our customersā€™ mission critical needs, the Advisory Board will play a key role in supporting Janes future growth and innovation.ā€

Aside from Corbett, the first non-US national to serve as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the founding members of the Janes National Security Advisory Board are:

  • Brig Barker, former counter-terrorism agent with the FBI
  • Terry Busch, expert in capability development with experience at DIA including on the MARS program
  • Francisco ā€˜Frankā€™ Castellanos, Market Executive for Merrill Lynch
  • Eric DeMarco, CEO Kratos Defense
  • Tony DeMartino, Founding Partner, Pallas Advisors
  • Frank Gargon, Executive at The Andean Group
  • Lindsey Sheppard, Fellow in International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)
  • Dr Jeffrey Starr, national security expert with experience at the highest levels of the DoD and Goldman Sachs

Janes was founded by naval enthusiast Fred T. Jane in 1898 to document the worldā€™s fighting ships. Janes has since evolved into a provider of unique, interconnected open-source intelligence, with a global team of almost 800 subject matter experts and contributors delivering analysis spanning 67,000 pieces of equipment across air, land and sea, and more than 1 million events that impact risk and security.
