Comprised of experienced professionals in the realms of government, defense and national security, it serves to drive relevant solutions that best serve the critical needs of Janes customers.

Sean Corbett

Sean Corbett, Janes National Security Advisory Board Chairman

Sean Corbett is the founder and CEO of IntSight Global, a consultancy specializing in strategic thinking, open-source intelligence and business optimization.

Corbett retired from the Royal Air Force in September 2018 as a two-star general after a 30-year career as a professional intelligence officer. His last appointment in the military was in Washington, DC as the first Non-US Deputy Director of a major US Intelligence Agency.

He was made a Member of the British Empire in 1999 and in 2018 was made a Commander of the Order of the Bath. He is a senior associate fellow of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), the oldest independent defence and security think-tank in the UK, and is on the panel of experts for the United States Cipher Brief as well as being the chair of the Janes National Security Advisory Board.

Brig Barker

Brig Barker

Brig Barker retired after 21 years as a counter-terrorism agent with the FBI. During his career, he spent much of his time on a Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) with extensive overseas deployments. Barker was a JTTF Squad Supervisor and Counterterrorism Program Coordinator in two separate FBI divisions, and further served as the embedded Senior FBI Advisor at DoD Special Operations Command.

In 1998, he was deployed to Nairobi and Kampala as part of the investigation into the US Embassy bombings there and was deployed to Cairo in the wake of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on the US. In 2006, Barker opened the Freetown, Sierra Leone LEGAT office to lead the FBI’s Blood Diamond investigation and spent two years as a full-time interrogation and counter-terrorism instructor at the FBI Academy teaching both New Agents and the National Academy.

Terry Busch

Terry Busch has 25 years’ experience developing new government capabilities and enterprise programs. He is known as the builder of leading-edge artificial intelligence technologies, big-data, and data science analytical programs.

Previously, he has held roles such as Chief Technology Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) High Priority Machine-Assisted Rapid Repository Program (MARS) and the DIA’s Chief Data Officer, leading the development of AI-based capabilities within DIA. He also held roles within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Frank Castellanos

Francisco “Frank” Castellanos

Francisco “Frank” Castellanos is the Market Executive for Merrill Lynch in Virginia, previously a Senior Vice President in Bank of America ’s Public Policy office where he led initiatives on cyber and international policy issues. Castellanos is a former decorated senior Foreign Service Officer with the US government, serving for 20 years with seven tours in the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia, including command positions in war zones and other hostile environments.

Castellanos further helped formulate policy for the US Intelligence Community and served on a number of inter-agency boards within government. Castellanos shaped and helped guide US foreign policy, foreign collection, and investments to protect American interests abroad.

ERIC DEMARCO

Eric DeMarco

Eric M. DeMarco is President and Chief Executive Officer of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. Kratos is a provider of high performance, jet-powered unmanned aerial drone systems, space and satellite communications, microwave electronics, rocket systems for missile defense and hypersonic programs, and C5ISR.

Prior to Kratos, DeMarco was the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Titan Corporation, which was later acquired by L-3. Before Titan, DeMarco served in a variety of public accounting positions primarily focusing on large multinational corporations and publicly traded companies.

DeMarco is also on the Executive Board and Board of Governors of the Aerospace Industry Association (AIA). He holds a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration and Finance, summa cum laude, from the University of New Hampshire.

Tony DeMartino

Tony DeMartino

Tony DeMartino is a Founding Partner of Pallas Advisors. Previously, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense and the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary of Defense. DeMartino served more than 20 years in the US Army, including as Chief of Staff to the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

DeMartino is Chair of the Advisory Board of Calypso AI and is an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for New American Security. He holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from George Mason University, a master’s in National Security Policy Studies from the School of Advanced Military Studies, and a BS from Washington and Lee University.

Frank Gargon

Frank Gargon has 30 years’ experience within the US national security community. He currently serves as the CEO of The Andean Group, a technology-enabled services company providing national security customers with advanced capabilities.

Prior to this, Gargon served in the US Department of Defense, including in roles as a staff officer, Counterterrorism Desk Officer, and Special Projects Desk Officer. He has worked extensively with US Special Operations. Gargon holds a BA from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Lindsey Sheppard

Lindsey Sheppard

Lindsey Sheppard is a Fellow in the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), where her research areas include artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous systems, and defense innovation policy. She is also an Adjunct Professor with the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University.

Previously, Sheppard was a member of the technical staff at both the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory and the Georgia Tech Research Institute. During this time, she was the programmatic and technical systems engineering lead on various software development projects with the US Air Force and Army. She holds an MS and a BS in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Jeffrey Starr

Dr. Jeffrey Starr

Dr Jeffrey Starr has more than 20 years’ experience in the national security field, specializing in WMD proliferation and counter-terrorism finance, Eurasian security, and arms control. He was the senior DoD representative in Russia and Central Asia after the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on the US, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Eurasia.

He also served as the operational team leader for a pre-emptive acquisition program to remove WMD materials from the marketplace and served on the American delegation at the US-Soviet Nuclear and Space Negotiations in Geneva. Starr advised Goldman Sachs on identifying and mitigating reputational and regulatory risks related to potential exposure to illicit activities in emerging market financial transactions, as well as assisted in developing intelligence fusion and risk assessment methodologies for information security. He was educated at MIT and the University of Illinois.
