Raven said on 21 December it will benefit from Gryphon’s expertise and facilities. Gryphon has trained more than 35,000 people since 2001. Its 700-acre site, which is 40 miles (64.4 km) from the US Army’s Fort Bragg in North Carolina, provides training in such areas as close-quarters combat, countering unmanned aircraft, marksmanship, off-road driving, and surveillance.

Michael Vaden, Gryphon’s founder, said Raven is a good fit for his company, which has worked with Raven on “various special projects” over the past two years. Based next to Fort Bragg, Raven is majority-owned and managed by CEO and president Sheffield Ford, who is a retired US Army special forces officer.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
